($90) Good red-ruby. Pungent aromas of red berries, cedar, tobacco, cocoa and mint, plus a complicating woodsy element. Sweet and dense but suave, with a rocky quality giving grip and shape to the juicy red berry and tobacco flavors. Less powerful than the Bancroft Ranch cabernet but conveys an impression of mineral energy and finishes with refined tannins and impressive aromatic persistence. A beauty.
