After decades of managing and consulting for the most exclusive wineries in Napa, Jim Barbour began cultivating grapes for his own wine in 1992. In a gravel and loam-soil vineyard just south of St. Helena, he grafted budwood from famed Grace Family Vineyards
, and was on his way to producing high caliber Cabernet Sauvignon. With Heidi Peterson Barrett as winemaker, the team has focuses on high quality in the vineyards and cellar. Barbour harvests only one-to-two tons per acre and strives to maintain a well-balanced vine with little to no irrigation during the year. Since their first vintage of 1995 Cabernet Sauvignon, production has steadily increased, but remains well below 1,000 cases.
