($70) Good full red. Complex, aromatic nose offers dark cherry, brown spices and dried flowers. At once fleshy and fresh in the mouth, with the sweet cherry and spice flavors spreading out nicely to saturate the palate. Finishes with dusty tannins that arrive late, and a soupcon of eucalyptus. Showing very well today.

Tasting note: Ruchots is in my estimation the finest of the Morey 1ers and this example will only serve to reinforce that point of view as it again delivers grand cru like quality. A riper and more deeply pitched nose features a complex blend of red and blue pinot fruit with lovely violet and earth nuances that continue onto the round, rich, suave and generous flavors that possess good volume and excellent balance plus fine aging potential. As usual, this and the Combottes are the class of the 1ers chez Arlaud.
