The 2006 Tignanello is especially opulent in this vintage. Masses of dark red fruit, scorched earth and sweet oak emerge as this richly-textured Tignanello flows from the glass. The wine possesses superb density; all it needs is another few years to come together. This is a remarkably vibrant and primary Tignanello.

Intense aromas of ripe blackberry and flowers, with rosemary and coffee hints. Full-bodied, with chewy, polished tannins. Excellent fruit concentration and a flavorful aftertaste. Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.

This Super Tuscan is a blend of Sangiovese, Piccolo and Cabernet Sauvignon. We had the 2004 vintage which was excellent, but the 2006 just doesn't stand up to the tradition. It has the typical red currant and loamy flavors of Sangiovese, with the structure of Cabernet. However, this particular vintage is a bit disjointed and is still quite tannic.

Not bad but for this wine, not bad is not good enough.
