($55) Pale, green-tinged color. Precise aromas of pineapple, peach, green papaya, lime, smoke and honeycomb. Sweet but juicy, with terrific cut and detail to the vibrant flavors of pineapple, soft citrus, star fruit, flowers and spices. The wine's strong acids cut through its almost oily texture in a way that reminds me of a topnotch Alsace pinot gris. The 2004 version of this wine is even more glyceral and has higher residual sugar, but this one benefits from the freshness of the year.
