The winery flagship 2005 Shiraz 'Block 6â?� is sourced from an estate vineyard 113 years old. It spent 28 months in oak, 90% American and 50% new. It offers up an ethereal perfume of cedar, tobacco, Asian spices, tar, licorice, bacon, blueberry, blackberry, and milk chocolate. This leads to a voluptuous, full-bodied, layered, complex and totally hedonistic Shiraz that can be enjoyed now but will evolve for at least a decade.

This on actually needed more time in the bottle. I meant to open the '01 but left in the other cellar. It actually improved several points after sitting out in the decanter all night. Gobs of fruit and alcohol on the nose, more fruit, tannins, and smoke on the first sips. Just seemed a little disjointed. Finish was a little too alcoholic. Should be better in 3 - 5 years.
