($150) Bright ruby-red. Wonderfully scented nose offers cassis, camphor, minerals, cocoa powder, licorice and rose petal. Juicy, spicy and pure, with terrific definition and cut to the flavors of currant, cherry and minerals. Finishes with firm tannic spine and lingering notes of spice and flowers. Comes across as sweeter but less deep than the 2005 Maya, which is less open to inspection today.

The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon offers a sumptuous bouquet of creme de cassis, earth, spice box, and hints of licorice as well as oak. Medium-bodied, moderately tannic, and pure with a European structural profile, it is accessible, but should age nicely for 15 years.

Combines ripe, intense, complex fruit flavors, with touches of wild berry, black cherry, currant and spice, with a rich, fleshy texture, ending with a long, full-blown and persistent finish, returning to the spice, herb and berry flavors.
