($52) Light yellow. Rich pineapple and lichee on the nose, with fresh melon and fig adding complexity. A real fruit basket on the palate, displaying peach, honeydew, tropical fruits and an exotic licorice quality. Picks up sexy baking spices on the long, juicy finish. I prefer the finesse of this to the power of the Seasmoke today.

The 2005 Chardonnay Mount Carmel (a site which Brewer-Clifton now farms exclusively) exhibits honeysuckle, lemon butter, a hint of popcorn, and orange rind in a full-bodied, deep, chewy style that reminds me of some of the old Batard-Montrachets made by Domaine Michel Niellon in the late seventies and eighties.

Gorgeous development in the glass from a tightly wound, slightly oxidized, and lemony wine into a distinctive, yet typical, high end Cali chard. Golden raisin, meyer lemon, apricot, canned corn, popcorn, baking spices. Striking, full acid... pure, pristine, and clean with a sour apple finish.
