($95; based on 91% cabernet sauvignon) Good deep ruby-red. Smoky black raspberry, mocha, tobacco, earth and brown spices on the nose, along with a saline hint. Sweet, concentrated and serious, with an attractive sugar/acid balance to the flavors of dark berries and chocolate. Firmly structured and quite impressive for a second wine.

The deep ruby/purple-tinged 2005 Altagracia (91% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Merlot and Petit Verdot) reveals a spicy, mineral-laden, black fruit, damp forest, truffle, and crushed rock-scented bouquet. With lovely fruit, medium to full body, and no hard edges, it is ideal for drinking over the next 10-15 years.

Has really evolved nicely over time and has a great balance, depth, and complexity with plenty of concentrated fruit.

Good wine but not at this price point. Good structure and finish but certainly not great. Pass on this going forward
