The 2005 Le Serre Nuove is the second wine of Ornellaia. In top vintages it is the hidden gem in this lineup from a price to quality perspective. The 2005 reveals gorgeous aromatics along with sweet black cherries, blackberries, spices, smoke and toasted oak. It is a delicate, feminine wine to enjoy over the next decade or so.

Chewy and structured, with lots of berry and vanilla cream aromas and flavors. Full-bodied, with lovely concentration. Slightly hollow at the moment, but should come together with bottle age. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.

50% merlot, 35% cabernet sauvignon, 10% cabernet franc and 5% petit verdot. Lovely, vibrant aromas of ripe-off-the-vine blackberry and black raspberry with nuamnces of cedar box and sweet tobacco. Full, elegant entry that reiterates the berry fruit and is joined by delicate streams of plum and black chery. A velvety sort of muscularity gives it definition along with the structure of sophisticated and proper tannins. A classic and sublime example of Ornellaia's second wine.
