I thought the 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon was even stronger than the 2004. The wine has remarkable intensity, an inky bluish/purple color to the rim, and a stunning nose of acacia flowers interwoven with blueberry and blackberry, espresso roast, and pain grille. The wine is rich, full-bodied, has the somewhat European-like structure of this vintage, but exceptional generosity, richness, and depth. It is certainly an impressive Cabernet Sauvignon (there is a some Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc in the final blend). This wine should age nicely for 20-25 years. This limited production offering of approximately 400-450 cases of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon is made by consultant Mark Herold for proprietor Kevin Carrikar. Virtually all of the Cabernet Sauvignon comes from the cool-climate, higher elevation vineyards in Napa's sector of Coombsville.

Firm, rich and polished up front before the tannins weigh in, framing the dried currant and loamy earth flavors--and even when they do, they're supple and integrated.

Young, powerful Napa Cab! Needs another 3-5 years cellaring, 25 years of life ahead. Heavy tannin, big juicy cherries/cassis and enough oak to balance it all out.

This was terrible. All syrupy fruit, VA, alcohol, and harsh tannin. No balance.

Not ready. Tannins were not smooth yet. Plenty of fruit and structure, so in a couple of years, it will be great.
