($50) Dark red. Intensely perfumed aromas of ripe blackberry and cherry, complemented by exotic sandalwood and fresh rose. Ripe and dense but pure, with vibrant red and dark berry flavors, refreshing minerality and a suave toasty note. This is almost lavish in fruit expression, with a sweet floral pastille note on the long, silky finish. Compelling stuff, with the balance to age.

One of my favorites is the 2005 Pinot Noir Savoy, which has beautiful earthy, blueberry, and raspberry notes intermixed with spring flowers and forest floor. The wine has excellent texture, outstanding ripeness and precision, and a long, elegant finish. It could be mistaken for a premier cru Chambolle-Musigny. Drink it over the next 5-6 years.

Delicious ripe cherry, plum and wild berry fruit is supple and polished. Turns elegant and spicy and picks up a nice mineral, pebble edge. The tannins give the fruit nice traction. 480 cases made.

About This Producer

Radio Coteau works exclusively with small, cool-climate vineyard sites in western Sonoma County. Winegrower Eric Sussman's first vintage at the helm was 2001, after spending the years prior gaining experience with organic winegrowing in Washington and French winemaking in Bordeaux and Burgundy. Learning from the masters at the Chateaux Baron Philippe de Rothschild in 1995 and Domaines Comte Armand and Jacques Prieur in 1996, Eric returned stateside with a strong commitment to producing wines with a true "sense of place." The winery crafts Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Syrah and Zinfandel, primarily from designated sites.
