A stunning bouquet of tangerines, brioche, wet rocks, honeysuckle, lanolin, white flowers and quince emerges from this young Chardonnay. With a light gold/green color, great acidity, a rich, full-bodied mouthfeel, fabulous texture, and a 40+-second finish, the 2005 is still an infant in terms of development.

Complex aromas of fresh-cut flowers, melon, beeswax and ripe pear. Full-bodied and layered, fleshy and elegant, delicate and subtle.

The most intense and profound chardonnay I have tasted. Deep, golden color. It had a combination of rich fruit and minerality that I have never tasted before. The only negative might be that it was too bold for those who prefer subtler chardonnay. Tasted alongside 05' Aubert Reuiling, which was also profound, but seemed a bit softer and easier to drink. 97-99

About This Producer

One of the most influential mavens of modern California winemaking, Helen Turley creates in Marcassin wines that are among the most sought-after in California. Though the wines are made following a traditionalist Burgundian style, they are unique, complex representations of California Pinot and Chardonnay. Turley's straightforward winemaking philosophy is, "...great vineyards, meticulously farmed, limited yield, long hang time and natural yeast."
