More Vintages and Sizes of Etienne Sauzet - Puligny-Montrachet Les Combettes 1er Cru:

(also from a full 1 ha parcel of 50+ year old vines that saw 40% new wood) This is more often than not the finest 1er in the Sauzet range and so it is again in 2005 with a touch of wood framing white flower and notably ripe orchard fruit aromas, particularly peach, pear and apricot and this ripeness continues onto the sappy, concentrated and powerful flavors that manage to be at once fleshy yet precise with a hugely long and palate staining finish. This is a big wine and while it's not quite as big as the Bâtard, it's almost as complex. A classy effort.

($121) Sexy aromas of white flowers, truffle and citrus fruits. Precise but laid-back, with noteworthy purity and inner-mouth perfume to the flavors of lemon, lime, flowers and minerals. This may be even more concentrated than the Champ-Canet but it's not more elegant. Very rich and youthfully backward.
