($57) Good medium ruby. Wild aromas of roasted black raspberry, pepper, bacon fat and nutty oak. Silky and fine-grained, with a gamey syrah character that's currently overshadowed by an impression of strong acidity. Very intensely flavored and firm but a bit youthfully disjointed at the moment. This plot is on the crest of the hill, at the top of Spring Mountain, on quartz rock, with water stress putting a cap on vine vigor.

The 2004 Syrah's dense ruby/purple color is accompanied by sweet aromas of blackberries and cassis, lively, fresh acidity, medium body, and a stylish personality.

An amazing wine that keeps sprinkling out new flavors. Firm, dense and marked by grapey Syrah flavors built around wild berry, pepper, spice, anise, sage and espresso bean. Tannins tighten up on the finish, providing excellent structure. 600 cases made.
