Very good deep ruby. Dark, sappy aromas of blackberry, cassis, minerals, violet and cedar. Superripe, round and fat; makes the sweetest impression of these four Bordeaux blends today but also comes across as sappy and fresh. Finishes very long, with smooth, building tannins.

In order to produce the finest wine possible under the Les Pavots label, Peter Michael has been culling out lots for a second wine. The knock-out 2004 L'Esprit des Pavots (45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Cabernet Franc, 17% Merlot, and 5% Petit Verdot) is more forward than its bigger sibling, displaying plenty of melted fudge, creme de cassis, charcoal, licorice, herbs, and smoky oak. Opulent, fleshy, and soft, it is both a hedonistic and intellectual turn-on. Drink it over the next 10-12 years.
