($50) Palish color shows a Chablis-like green tinge. Orange peel, ginger and nutmeg on the nose. Densely packed, sweet and bright, with exotic orange marmalade, pineapple and floral flavors. The wine's strong mineral and citrus zest notes and sappy acidity give it terrific precision and penetration in the middle palate. Finishes intense yet delicate, with excellent length.

Displaying projected aromatics of pineapple and other tropical fruits, the 2004 Chardonnay Hyde Vineyard is an expressive, medium-bodied, fruity offering. Like many 2004 Chardonnays, there is an absence of real depth, but it offers plenty of superficial charm. Enjoy it over the next year.
