($26) Inky ruby. Mineral-accented cherry and plum flavors are deepened by dark chocolate and licorice. Bitter cherry flavor is complicated by espresso and cracked pepper. A bright kick of minerals on the finish adds verve to this surprisingly taut, youthful wine. About 25% new French oak was used here.

Termes keeps getting better. This $20 gem is a crowd pleaser. Deep jammy, berry notes with a hint of smoke on the backend. Tannins are holding together well. A bottle for at least another 5 years. 10 more bottles in the cellar.

I preferred this just open and at cellar temperature tonight. Took on some heat and a stewed fruit component with about 4 hours air time. 2 of my friends preferred this to a great Napa Cab at $60...I did not.

A monster of hot stewy fruit and heavy gripping tannins. After a full minute of attack, these flavors give way to coffee/chocolate/cinnamon. Put this wine down for another few years.
