Reduction. This is completely different texturally than the Chambertin twins with concentrated, densely tannic and robust tannins which are in stark contrast to the suavity of the former. This is a big wine with ample youthful austerity and outstanding length and while this is unlikely to win awards for elegance, it's serious, packed and should develop well for at least a decade and drink well for another.

Saturated deep red. Black raspberry, brown spices, menthol and minerals on the sappy nose. Impressively broad and sweet but not yet showing the complexity of some of Potel's other grand crus. Broad but quite firm-edged on the back, finishing with notes of mocha and brown spices.
