A touch of forest floor and vegetal notes blend into the otherwise ripe black fruit aromas that precede clean, crisp and precise medium-bodied flavors that are already delicious flavors that culminate in an exceptionally well balanced and linear finish where the only mild drawback is a noticeable touch of warmth. This should mature relatively quickly by the usual standards of this wine.

Good medium-deep red. Aromas of redcurrant, minerals, spices, leather and iron. Firmly built but a bit peppery and herbal, with limited mid-palate sweetness. Due to the combination of a leaner middle and an impression of higher acidity, the tannins come across as a tad dry. Meo notes that this wine has suffered from the recent racking, and predicts it will show good purity of fruit in a 2001 style.

A core of pure cherry and a vibrant structure define this refined, well-integrated red, with ripe tannins that will mellow in a year or two. Has fine length, with intensity and a mineral aftertaste. 325 cases made.
