The up-front, sexy 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa reveals the vintage's ripe headiness along with loads of glycerin, a juicy, fat texture, a dark ruby/purple color, and abundant cassis, herb, licorice, and smoke characteristics. Drink it over the next decade.

Aromas of herb, currant and cedar are richer and fuller on the palate. Firms up, with dried currant, earth, vanilla bean and herbal sage notes. The tannins are tight. Decant. 30,192 cases made.

Dark blood red core, the color continues to the rim with little change and the wine is completely opaque. The nose exhibits plenty of cassis and blackberry with hints of oak and overripe plums, it also has a slightly smokey character begging to peak through its dense fruit core. On the palate it hits you with sweetness at first which soon gives way to a seamless array of ripe dark berry fruit. Full bodied, and concentrated with elegant tannins and balanced acidity. Very well balanced wine at this point of its life, the finish carries on for a good 25 seconds, glycerol is high here which leads to a velvety mouthfeel. Excellent

Deep garnet red, bricking at edges showing age. In nose classic Cab, cassis, tabacco black fruit not to ripe, nice. Some vegetative notes at the beginning are overpowered by the fruit. In mouth well balanced but not long. Drink now.

Aaron's birthday dinner we had the magnum! Color and body were in good shape. Wine has lost most of its vanilla and oak tones but the berry flavor was nice and long lasting. Very nice drink, the magnum bottle helped it aging process, a 750 ml probably has not held up as nice. Drink now
