(15.1%) A very ripe but not roasted nose features notes of anise, clove, menthol and deeply pitched red berry fruit aromas that lead to attractively complex, big, rich and muscular flavors that are velvety and smooth on the mid-palate but youthfully tangy on the finish as the acidity is not particularly well integrated at present. This is a delicious and dramatic effort and it carries its substantial alcohol benignly. This isn't my style but the wine is clearly well made and with a bit of time in bottle, it should round out.

Blue fruits along with hints of cinnamon and incense characterize the medium to full-bodied, deep ruby/purple-tinged 2004 Pinot Noir Cargasacchi Vineyard. Made from Dijon Clone 115 planted in limestone/diatomaceous-based soils, it is a loaded, rich, tightly wound effort that will benefit from another 1-2 years of bottle age. It should keep for a decade.
