Fans of this wine will notice a good deal more wood influence than normal but the good news is that it appears to also possess the requisite stuffing to successfully integrate it with time in bottle. The nose is earthy but fresh with excellent density and volume, culminating in an explosively powerful finish. More importantly for a firmly structured wine like this, the supporting tannins are ripe and this too should reward extended cellaring.

($100) Medium red. Black cherry and a resiny nuance on the youthfully medicinal nose. The broadest and sweetest of these Bouchard Beaune bottlings, with dark fruit flavors given definition and lift by firm acidity. This has good volume and a chewy texture. Finishes with sweet tannins and very good length, with a piquant note of grapefruit.

Aromas of sweet oak spice are matched by a ripe, lush cherry note in this powerful red. Seems forward because of its bold fruit, but a spine of tannins will allow this to develop. Fine length.
Tasted On: 01/29/2010
Earthy, rich, good red berries
