($115; includes 10% cabernet franc) Deep, complex nose combines plum syrup, violet, tobacco, licorice, minerals and game; there's something quite Bordeaux-like about this. Dry, broad, suave and seamless, with complicating hints of black olive and smoke. This is wonderfully full without being at all heavy. Finishes long and ripe. This will go truffley with bottle aging.

1/23/2012 We were little disappointed in this bottle tonite. Didn't have the usual Blankiet complexity. Seemed rather one-dimensional and perhaps a little astringent. The nose was a beautiful blend of mocha, vanilla bean, and dark black berries. The body was a little thin - perhaps we opened too early? Though it didn't improve with time. Finish was nice but not stellar. Overall this a fine bottle but never reached the level of outstanding. We had this with chicken cordon bleu and stir fried sweet spicy eggplant.

Earth, spice and cherries on the nose with a dominant dose of oak. Starting to show secondary notes of tobacco and leather but still very primal. Mouth is full bodied for a merlot with ample tannin.

Super rich with chocolate, burnt caramel, slight rubber (less), lush tannin providing moderate to long finish.
