International Wine Cellar Author: Josh Raynolds Issue: Issue 150

($75; 92% syrah and 5% grenache, with the rest a blend of viognier, marsanne and roussanne aged for 58 months in oak; 15.7% alcohol) Dark ruby. A complex, expansive bouquet displays smoky herbs, dark berry liqueur, red- and blackcurrant, potpourri and an exotic apricot pit quality. Lush, pungent dark fruit and floral pastille flavors are complemented by smoky herbal and floral qualities and framed by supple tannins. Leaves spice and licorice notes behind on the long, sappy finish.

Drank very well. Finish was a little short. Very rich. Decanted for 1.5 hours before began drinking and got better over time. The more decanting the better.

This wine continues to get better and better. It drinks more like a fine CdP then a Sonoma Coast Syrah

In know it seems difficult to believe, but this bottle was better than the first. Our 2010 wine of the year to date. Simply phenomenal! Congrats to Pax and the team for something truly other worldly....
