($22) Steely aromas of peach, ginger, nuts and crushed stone. Dusty and ripe, perked up by some unabsorbed CO2 Comes across as rounder, sweeter and more mouthfilling than the Estate bottling, if not quite as floral and subtle. Finishes silky and spicy. An impressive pair of young chardonnays.

The 2004 Chardonnay Estate Verna's Vineyard offers copious amounts of smoky oak along with a rich, buttery hazelnut character (reminiscent of some Meursaults), full-bodied, deep fruit, and loads of glycerin. It is an attractive, boisterous Chardonnay to drink over the next 2-3 years.
