Roasted coffee and herb aromas add a nice dimension of complexity, joining the firm, loamy currant, black cherry, black olive and rich berry flavors. Deep and concentrated, with a long, intense, persistent finish that ends with an elegant mouthfeel.

A rich nose of supple black fruits, lavender, anise, buttered nuts. The palate is vibrantly expressive with a full roundness to the middle. The flavors are blackberry, fig, and slate, massively extracted structure that shows tactile weight and dimension on the palate. Beautifully sculpted pure blackberry and violet flavors show in the long mouth-coating tannins. The best wine tasted at Oakville Growers 2007. Better than some of the cults.

Spicy rich tobacco flavors with good earthy tones and well balanced acidity. Very smooth and long in the palate. Got better with time and never turned tannic. Strong showing.

Site Blog: The Wine Forum Delicious. Do not have detailed notes as we were out to dinner but this wnet very well with a rib eye steak. Classic aromas and flavors.

About This Producer

Nestled on a gently sloping knoll on the north edge of Yountville, Ghost Block vineyard is named in honor of the historic Pioneer Cemetery which it borders. According to local lore George C. Yount, who was the first person to plant a grapevine in the Valley, wanders the hillside overseeing the vast spectrum of an industry he himself founded on this very land.

Ghost Block is a premier, limited production Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, using only the very best fruit to express the vineyard site.
