Eloge is a Bordeaux-styled red composed of approximately two-thirds Cabernet Sauvignon, nearly one-third Cabernet Franc, and tiny dollops of Petit Verdot and Merlot. Made from a similar blend, the 2004 Eloge's dark ruby/purple color is followed by scents of graphite, camphor, black currants, tapenade, flowers, and spice. Rich, supple, and full-bodied with silky tannin, abundant glycerin, and heady alcohol (listed at 14.8%), it will drink gorgeously well young, and last 10-20 years.

a magnificent bordeaux style blend in a Napa wine. complex-- with notes of cedar, spice, black fruit, truffle and leather but with plenty of fruit, a big body and smooth tannins. hugely fine on the finish.

Wow! Punching way above its weight. Medium-dark ruby with spicy fruit nose. Great legs. Extremely well balanced black fruit with glycerine notes, some dried plums. Yum!

About This Producer

Nestled deep in Conn Valley, east of St. Helena and the Meadowood Resort, Anderson's Conn Valley Vineyard remains an impressive, if not sometimes forgotten, source of very complex and potentially age worthy wines in Napa Valley. The vineyard produces beautifully rich, blackcurrant-flavored wines that have demonstrated stunning purity of flavor and aging potential while portraying a union of flamboyant Californian ripeness and Bordelais elegance and nuance.

Todd Anderson and winemaker Mac Sawyer initially put themselves on the map with their long-lived, estate Cabernet, but have expanded their repertoire to include Bordeaux tributes "Right Bank Cuvee" and Robert Parker-favorite "Eloge," which he calls "a distinct effort of first-growth quality."
