(5,524 bottles produced - 14.5%) Rich, fragrant and generous spicy red pinot fruit aromas combine with opulent, intense and mouth coating flavors that deliver fine length. This is quite ripe with hints of mocha and very ripe plum and the flavors are supported by dusty but buried tannins and this should reward 4 to 7 years of cellar time. In short, this is delicious and nicely balanced if not necessarily an elegant offering.

($65) Full red-ruby. Wild, meaty aromas of black fruits, minerals, espresso and mint. The sweetest of these 2003 pinots, with creamy-richflavors of black fruits, earth, sassafras and minerals. Not hugely sappy but impressively concentrated. A very ripe style of pinot, with flavors just this side of roasted. Long, slow-mounting finish features very broad, fine tannins.

There are 5,524 bottles of the 2003 Pinot Noir Rosemary's Vineyard, which reveals more violet, cranberry, raspberry, black cherry, plum, and incense characteristics. It offers a deep ruby hue, medium to full body, great precision, elegance, and purity, and a subtle note of oak. One of the finest Pinot Noirs made in California, it will provide immense pleasure over the next 6-7 years. Kudos to the Talley family for its impressive dedication to high quality wines.
