The only time I tasted the 2003 Reserve de la Comtesse out of bottle, it was somewhat monolithic and superficial, but charming and well-endowed. A 46% Merlot, 44% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc cuvee, it is well-made and can be over the next 8-10 years.

Still harsh on the finish. Little fruit left and I usually like "lower level" fruit Bordeaux. This was a decidedly average bottle.

Not bad. Very strong and complex, with very strong masculine / tobacco flavor that finishes with a very nice and creamy vanilla smoothness. very nice complexity and subtleties.

This is a good drinking bottle of wine that is delicious, uncomplicated and very straight forward. The wine has a decent and rather aromatic note of red fruit with a little bit of earthiness, also creamy, as if some vanilla ice cream was added into the mix. It was the type of wine that I can finish quickly, but there is not a whole lot of substance to this wine nor is there anything thought provoking. On the palate, nice flavor of cinnamon toast that is slightly blackened, not too much though, with good creaminess to it. In a way, drinking this wine is like going to a bakery shop a little bit. Decent structure and body, but I am not sure how long this wine will last though. Definitely a good and solid B-level wine and I would have given it a higher B+ / 87 point score if not for the price of it (seriously, that is just too much for a second wine of a Bordeaux Château, even if it is from a very good vintage. The perfect wine for a Thursday night dinner and hanging out at home. A blend of 46% Merlot, 44% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc.
