Issue: Issue 17
(from a 3 ha parcel superbly placed high on the slope, across from the Château) This is even fresher still if not as complex with an elegant nose of red fruit, earth, plum and leather that complement ripe, sappy and intense mouth coating flavors that seem to be the distilled essence of cassis. The underlying tannins are ripe, quite firm and almost completely buried and this finishes with a subtle hint of mocha and coffee.

($245; 14% alcohol) Good deep red-ruby. Superripe aromas of black cherry, leather and smoked meat. A hugely sweet, mouthfilling but slightly reduced fruit bomb with excellent depth and good balance for the year. Comes across as less roasted than the Boudots. Finishes very long, with sweet tannins. "Less approachable than I first thought," commented Meo, adding "it may be around in 2050 but we won't be there." This cuvee appears to be quite strong in 2004 too.
