($58) Good deep red. Raspberry aroma lifted by exotic clove and flowers. Juicy, sappy and tangy, with penetrating flavors of sweet red berries and pepper. This, too, is quite dry in a positive way, and bright on the back end. Very Sonoma Coast in character. Also tasted: 2003 Pinot Noir Moon Select Sonoma Coast.

The 2003 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast's (4,426 cases) deep plum/ruby color is followed by a sweet nose of raspberries, currants, spice, and Chinese black tea. An autumnal/vegetal component adds to the Burgundian-like complexity of this spicy, elegant, French-tasting Pinot Noir. It will drink well for 3-4 years.
