Producer Notes
Classified as a Second Growth Bordeaux estate, Château Cos d'Estournel is without doubt, one of the top producers in the St. Estèphe appellation, producing complex and intense, full-bodied wines. This straight-up spectacular wine has matured into something of pure delight and deserves an upgrade in your cellar books. The nose bursts forth with dark chocolaty cassis, plum and blackberry goodness laced with entrancing notes of crushed gravel and violets. Plush and plump black fruit (blackberry, currant, olallieberry) is brilliantly accentuated by generous veins of graphite, chocolate-covered coffee beans, and cedar spice. A firm, structured palate combines substantial grip and perfectly balanced acidity for a seductive, velvety texture. The finish lingers for a good minute plus proffering sweet dark fruit and tobacco. Too good!

A nice wine, with some cedar on the nose, medium body, black and red fruits (cassis, blackberry and raspberry), with touch of tobacco leaf. Didn't get the chocolate I read about, and not as many layers as I expected. But still nice.
Disappointing. Deep purple color. Big, lush, jammy fruit. Otherwise not too memorable. Felt more like an overblown California Cabernet, not a Bordeaux.

A little tannic at first but smoothed out with air. Chocolate flavors and a powerful bouquet. A nice wine to drink. Maybe a little young now -- try decanting next time.

Great value, great VF recommendation. Chewy and with tar, blackberries and a little WOW.
