Reviews For This Wine

International Wine Cellar | 90

($35; 60% grenache, 20%mataroand 20% shiraz) Medium ruby. Pungent, floral nose features bright raspberry, wild strawberry, fennel, smoky bacon and fruity pepper. Sweet and juicy, with concentrated flavors of ripe cherry, blackberry, olive tapenade and mocha. The dark, plummy finish offers impressive energy.

This is an exceptional wine. It has balanced fruit flavours, fully integrated tannins, gorgeous colour in the glass and a flavour that lingers for quite a while, leaving you looking forward to the next mouthful. Accompanied roast pork pefectly.

Delicious. Medium bodied with vanilla and raspberry on the palate. Medium finish. This is a pretty wine but needs 2 hours of air to show it's stuff.

About This Producer

Torbreck Vintners was founded by David Powell in 1994. Although located in Australia's Barossa Valley, the name comes from a forest in Scotland where Powell previously worked as a lumberjack before becoming a winemaker. Torbreck's production is centered around the classic Barossa Valley varieties of Shiraz, Grenache and Mataro (Mourvedre), and the winemaking philosophy is based on David's love for the wines of France's Rhone Valley. Along with many intensely flavored red wines blended from old-vine Shiraz and Grenache, Torbreck also produces white wines from Viognier, Marsanne, and Roussanne.
