An inspiring red. Dark, intense and concentrated, yet polished and supple. Lots of red currant, black cherry and berry flavors are well-focused, picking up a tasty dash of toasty, mocha-laced oak. Firms up on the finish with solid, ripe tannins. Decant.

Constantly developing nose. Initial aromas of blackberry/raspberry pie and sweet coffee giving way to a dark floral character, then herbs and spice, and finally a sharp burst of white flowers and citrus. Deep garnet ox blood. Up front berries revealing pink peppercorn, mild licorice and (after two hours decanted) pencil lead and chocolate. Seemed initially thin on palate, becoming fuller as time went by.
