($42) Dark red-ruby. Penetrating aromas of cassis, blackberry and licorice, with a mineral firmness that carries through onto the palate. This highly concentrated zin began a bit brutal but turned thick and creamy with aeration, while maintaining lovely lift from its licorice and orange peel flavors. Very densely packed and sweet, with plenty of material to buffer its 16.2% alcohol.

This producer is certainly not short on fans, and deservedly so, as this wine showcased one of the most compelling marriages of flamboyance and rusticity that I've experienced in this varietal. Loaded w/ cr?me de cassis, pepper, blue fruits and brick dust notes that are firmly grounded in a rock solid, tannic structure that will need a bit of time to resolve & kick this Zin into hyper-drive. A compelling confluence of Old World austerity w/ New World hyperbole

Not as good as previous vintages.
Young deep red/purple colour. Ripe fruit on nose. Not too alcoholic but less concentrated than earlier vintages. Would buy and try again.
