More Vintages and Sizes of Denis Mortet - Gevrey-Chambertin:
Issue: Issue 17
(from a mix of 45 to 50 year old vines) An expressive nose of very ripe and warm earth and plum nuanced with subtle animale notes that merge into rich, sweet, supple and extremely fine flavors that are both detailed and delicious though not particularly complex. This is really quite elegant for a villages level wine and I like the finishing punch and character.

Issue: Issue 119
($83) Slightly funky aromas of leather, new oak and herbs. Then sweet, supple and easygoing, even a bit fla ccid. Finer-grained and more elegant than the Marsannay, but with modest stuffing. A bit dry on the end.
Author: Bruce Sanderson
Deep plum and blackberry flavors, all very silky and buoyed by a bright structure and well-integrated tannins. This is approachable now, with its lush fruit, yet should age well over the next decade.
