($60) Medium red with an amber rim. Scented nose shows dried cherry, dried flowers, brown spices, licorice and menthol. Large-scaled, rich and deep; a step up in texture and richness from the foregoing 2003s. Layered and deep Barolo, with slightly exotic flavors of dried cherry and marzipan. And yet there's something almost elegant about this big, warm wine. Finishes with building, sweet tannins and impressive persistence. Very impressive for the year.

About This Producer

Brovia wines are long-lived classics, as the Brovia family is masterful in its attendance to the minute details of all aspects of winemaking. They are adamant in their philosophy of producing only top quality wines that are standard bearers for their respective terroirs. Their Barolos reflect the subtle, complex and layered nuances that mimic the climatic condition for which Nebbiolo is named.
