There are about 500 cases of the 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon, which was aged in both American and French wood (one-half new). The Screaming Eagle of South Australia, it possesses great purity, layers of fruit, enormous volume and intensity, and at the same time, it is strikingly elegant and well-proportioned. This stunningly pure Cabernet tastes like pure creme de cassis intermixed with licorice and oak. It should drink well for 15-16 years, but who will be able to hold onto it that long?

his is definitely a wine you will love or hate. An extraordinarily rich wine from start to finish. The nose just jumps from the glass and grabs you by the throat. Big sweet scents of blackberries, black cherries, and vanilla. On the first taste there is an overwhelming amount of dark black fruits, figs, and sweet meats. Then another wave of sweet vanillan oak and gobs of cassis. The finish was long and a beautiful mix of sweet tannins and another hot of the oak. As I said, not for everyone, but we thought it was simply fabulous. Shared with friends over the last grilling of the year -- NY strip sirloins, grilled potatoes and gelato. Absolutely exquisite.

Another Sarah and Sparky Marquis project, this medium black cherry red colored wine has lots of legs with light to moderate coloration. For the first hour after opening, it?s tough to tell that this wine is Cabernet Sauvignon. With airing, slightly hot and smoky aromas of spice, dark fruits, bacon fat and hickory come forth. Deftly balanced with more flavors of bacon and hickory with slight mint. The wine substantially improved after being open and decanted for 12 hours. Much more sweet fruit emerged and a more defined statement of Cabernet Sauvignon emerged.
