(from a 1.75 ha parcel of vines averaging 35 to 40 years of age) Tight and reserved black and red cherry and plum aromas with sweet, intense, exceptionally pretty flavors that just ooze extract of pinot and completely coat the mouth. There is a lovely inner mouth perfume and this is utterly delicious if perhaps not quite as beautifully delineated as its 2001 counterpart. It is however extraordinarily well balanced and I very much like this with its mineral-infused and linear finish.

Medium red. Ripe blackberry and cherry aromas, with deeper tones of underbrush, cured meat and resiny herbs. The lush, creamy palate offers brighter red berry notes and finishes supple and sweet, with broad, well-integrated tannins and excellent penetration and length. Provides an intriguing blend of red and dark berry flavors, with energy as well as depth.

Relatively light ruby colour. Round and lively though not intense (are all these 2002s suffering for being tasted immediately after the 2003s?). Real zest and direction. Transparency. Real burgundy qualities. Still quite a way to go… More complexity than most though pretty delicate. Real finesse.

The glorious aromas of the 2002 Chambolle-Musigny Les Cras reveal black cherries, plums, violets, stones, and raspberries. Satin-textured and ample, it is a broad, fleshy, sweet effort packed with plummy cherry flavors.
