($34; from bush vines planted on gravelly red soil; part of the malolactic fermentation takes place in American oak, after which the wine goes back into French barrels) Good full medium ruby. Sauvage, high-pitched aromas of wild raspberry and meat. Juicy, concentrated and bright, with a vibrant suggestion of cranberry. A sweet, clean, intensely flavored wine with excellent cut. Finishes firmly tannic, chewy and long. The yield here, according to Back, was about 1.5 tons per acre. This may ultimately merit a 90-point rating but needs three or four years in the bottle.
