($52) Ruby-red. Expressive aromas of currant, tobacco, flowers, espresso, cedar and sassafras. Sweet, smooth and suave, with spicy flavors of currant, sassafras and chocolatey oak. Nicely dense but accessible cabernet, finishing with ripe tannins and lingering sweetness.

Packed with dense, rich flavors built around a core of spicy currant, blackberry, plum and chocolate, with touches of cedary oak, anise and nice earthy scents. Ample tannins, too, yet the finish persists with a strong show of flavors. 6,888 cases made.

Color: Red edges and a relatively still dark core Nose: A nice nose of cassis, black berry and cherry, minimal oak influence, though spicy Palate: A bit hot, mostly why the score is barely 90. Good fruit and spicy cedar meld with supple tannins and decent acidity at its peak. This was a bit of a let down after 4 hours as it started to decline as the tannins tasted a little rougher.

A blend of Cabernet from the Stags Leap and Oak Knoll Districts. Purple red with lots of thin moderately pigmented legs. A full but controlled nose of popcorn, plum, toasted oak, light spice, vanilla, and mint. Reasonably complex in the mouth with lots of thickly candied fruit and espresso flavors. This wine exemplifies what California does best with Cabernet.
