(a lot comprising just two Seguin Moreau barrels of particularly concentrated juice from a single clone) Good bright, full ruby. Austere, brooding, oaky aromas of cassis, violet, bitter chocolate and tar, with a minty aspect. Then much more accessible in the mouth, though very different in texture from the Beckstoffer Original cuvee less thick but finer and distinctly minerally. Offers a fascinating mouth feel and mostly hides its 15+% alcohol. Really builds on the back end, finishing with very fine-grained, horizontal tannins that dust the palate. This is likely to age slowly in bottle.
