The last few vintages of La Lagune have underperformed. The 2001 has an open nose bursting with dark fruits and game aromas. Lightly colored for the vintage with plenty of round oak in the mouth. An agreeable wine but nothing more ?the wine lacks the depth of fruit that I have come to expect from La Lagune. 55% Cabernet, 20% Merlot, 15% Franc, and 10% Petit Verdot aged in 100% new oak for 18 months.
