($60) Lemon-yellow color with a green tinge. Aromas of lemon, clove, butterscotch and stone. Juicy and tightly wound, with dry, steely, minerally flavors of noteworthy purity. Brisk acids contribute to the wine's characteristic Chablis-like quality. Dry and youthful on the finish. This needs a couple years of additional aging.

The light gold-colored 2001 Chardonnay McCrea Vineyard offers a perfumed nose of buttered popcorn and honeysuckle along with medium to full body and a pure, nicely textured, long finish. It should drink well for 4-5 years.
