($60) Deeper yellow color. High-pitched, soil-inflected aromas of iodine, earth and lemon, with a more exotic hint of orange peel. Rich, chewy and seamless on the palate; conveys an impression of sweetness, but the lemon, grapefruit and crushed stone flavors are also quite penetrating. A very young, chewy wine with terrific precision and depth. Finishes subtle and very long, with a bit more grip than the Hirsch.

Light gold in color, the 2001 Chardonnay Hyde Vineyard reveals intense aromas of buttery honeysuckle, lemon oil, toast, and smoke. More exotic/flamboyant than its siblings, this in-your-face Chardonnay will drink well for 4-5 years.

A rich, slightly cloudy, gold colored wine with a powerful nose of lemon liqueur, vanilla, gunpowder, flint, and cold smoke. Plenty of acidity keeps the wine light on its feet. Excellent length with flint, wood, and gunpowder lingering on the finish. More fruit on the palate is needed to keep up with the wine?s very attractive secondary aromatics. The wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered. An excellent Chardonnay but a let down after the superlative 2000.
