($65) Bright lemon-yellow color. Orange peel, spices and mint on the rather restrained nose. Very fat, rich and dense but light on its feet. A strong peachy flavor is enlivened by nervy acidity. Intriguingly tactile chardonnay that's quite unevolved today but is extremely promising. My Burgundy light went on as soon as I put this in my mouth.

The 2001 Chardonnay Hudson E-Block exhibits a light gold color as well as scents of butter, caramel, and hazelnuts. Made in an exuberant, medium to full-bodied style, with loads of fruit, outstanding purity, and a long, lusty finish, this classic Hudson Vineyard Chardonnay should drink well for 5-6 years.
