($115) Saturated ruby-red. Roasted plum, mocha and chocolate liqueur on the inviting nose. Sweet and lush in the mouth, with very ripe, mellow flavors of currant, cherry, tar and melting chocolate. This has the fat of a topnotch merlot. Long finish features substantial but thoroughly sweet tannins.

Wow! Was I blown away by this wine, which I do not remember ever rating so highly. This is an opaque purple-colored, seriously endowed Cabernet displaying an extraordinary bouquet of spring flowers, lead pencil shavings, creme de cassis and subtle oak. Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, it possesses sweet tannins, beautiful integration of wood, tannin, acidity and alcohol, and a full-bodied, powerful yet elegant personality. This youthful 2001 will not hit its peak for another 4-5 years, and should keep for two decades thereafter.

Delicious fruit flavors, sharply focused, with sweet tasting currant and blackberry the most forward and evident. Fairly gushes with fruit through the finish.
