Issue: Issue 9
Classic Mazis nose of mostly red fruits cut with pungent game, fur and that unmistakable sauvage character followed by big, robust, chiseled, powerfully built, rich flavors and terrific length. Mazis can sometimes be a bit rustic but the tannins here are sophisticated and perfectly integrated though the sheer depth of extract certainly contributes to this impression. Faiveley is underrated in my view as a source of great Mazis-Chambertin and this too is highly recommended.

Moderately saturated medium red. Complex nose combines redcurrant, strawberry, smoke and animal fur. Silky, lush and seamless, with enticing red fruit and smoky oak flavors. Finishes with dusty, oak-influenced tannins and a strong smokiness.
