(Bouchard has been separately vinifying this parcel, which at one time was part of Montrachet, since 1992 though the first commercial release was not until 1997) There is better integration of the oak leading to intensely spicy fruit that is impressively rich, detailed and expressive followed by big, mineral laden flavors and a finish that emphasizes both green apples and ripe orchard fruits. There is a lovely purity here with beautifully elegant buffering acidity and simply outstanding intensity. This too has excellent mid-palate sap and a bit of fat which completely buffers the ripe yet firm acidity should drink well young but age beautifully over the medium term.

($240) Closed, pure wine hints at pineapple. Dense, pristine and fresh in the mouth, with a texture and flavor of liquid stone. Extremely subtle, long wine. Doesn't have quite the clarity of the "regular" Chevalier-Montrachet but this may be more powerful.
